Olisa Corcoran

I’m a Durham, NC-based textile artist & writer, with a focus on text, self-portraiture & texture. I embroider, sketch, paint and experiment.

You can also find my column, Inspired to Stitch, on Mr X Stitch, an international website at the forefront of the contemporary embroidery movement. I'm particularly interested in the use of social media to unite artists from around the world.

I juggle my artwork and my advocacy for my adopted hometown of Durham with a career in the biotech industry. I'm a feminist, half-breed, NYC Puerto Rican with a passion for travel, art, contemporary literary fiction and cooking. I speak fluent Nuyorican and my dial is turned to 11.
